Graphic designer, typographer, teacher
Studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich
1960-1963: work as a graphic designer in Josef Müller-Brockmann’s studio.
1963-64: assistant to paul rand in Weston, USA
1964-65: work as a graphic artist for the Nakamoto International Agency in osaka, Japan
1965: returns to Swtzerland and again works for the Müller-Brockmann studio.
1967-76: co-owner of the owner of the Müller-Brockmann & co. Advertising agency in Zurich.
1976-81: president of the Swiss section of the Association Graphique Internationale (AGI)
1977: opens the Baltis and Rüegg joint studio. teaches at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) in Zuricj and at the Cooper union in new York (1981). Rüegg has taught on a regular basis at Ohio State University in Clumbus, USA, since 1968.
14 october 2011: death. AGI article.
